Week 1 of school is in the books!

Hello Beach families,

You made it—Week 1 of school is in the books!

Thank you so much to our school and to our table volunteers for helping us pull off the Welcome Back Coffee and our Taco Night last week. It was great to see so many happy faces and hear about our school and community activities.

Lots of updates below!

Also, look out for a parent email about building your class’s scarecrow for the silent auction. This year’s theme is “Beloved Creatures of Animation.”

Library Volunteers

Here’s a note from Ben:

Hello Beach Library Volunteers!

The Beach Library is looking for volunteers for the 2021-22 school year. The Library at Beach is an amazing resource we are lucky to have.  Even luckier, we have Tiffany Cothran and Christina Waag running the show!  They are a great resource for the kids and ourselves.

The librarians need some extra help doing shelving, check out, and other tasks.  It’s a great opportunity for some quiet in the middle of the day, and a chance to meet other parents.  Also, it’s a great opportunity to take out extra books!

Because this year is a bit unusual, we are going to be set up differently (at least to start the Fall semester).  School policy does not allow parents to volunteer in the library during classroom times or recess.  Hopefully as school progresses, we will be able to update this to have parents help during their child’s class time or recess.  That does not mean we still don’t need help!

Also, for the first two weeks, Ms. Cothran and Ms. Waag will be offering training. This is to help make library volunteer time as productive as possible. Note the volunteer times for the training sessions in the Sign Up.

Once the policy changes and parents can be in the library at the same time as the students, we will update this schedule and work with you to fit into your students schedules.

Here is the Sign Up schedule for Fall 2021:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050F4DAEAC2B0-beach14

Thanks!

Ben

P.S. Please send any concerns or suggestions to BeachLibraryVolunteers@gmail.com, which is monitored by Ben, in support of our librarians Tiffany Cothran and Christina Wagg.
